As promised, here is the bluestone patio that was featured on our blog a few weeks ago as it was being constructed off site. The bluestone patio features a mix of large irregular stones; it has been set in place along with several smaller bluestone pieces that serve as a footpath along the side of the house. The steps the lead down from the french doors are new as well. They were fabricated from reclaimed granite and are wide enough to provide informal seating. The large boulder was placed along the side of the house to add a vertical element to the design composition and to accentuate the planting. Paul chose a simple palette of plants for a calm, elegant effect. The plants include a dwarf Hinoki cypress, mature azaleas, Blue Star juniper and a variety of ornamental grasses.
