Travertine Tile Walkway

November 2, 2012

This travertine tile walkway leads guests to the pool area from the driveway. This natural stone is a form of limestone, that is popular for paving patios and walkways. Travertine tiles come in a variety of colors and patterns and have a porous surface. The light colored tiles of this walkway make it stand out against the darker hues around it. Paul framed the walkway with an simple planting of white impatiens, bright pink cleome, coleus and ornamental grasses. Cleome are old-fashioned annuals, often referred to as “spider flowers” because of their long stamens. These fragrant flowers come in white, pink, rose or lavender. Impatiens are also known as “Busy Lizzie.” They thrive in shade and flower continuously from spring to first frost. Like coleus, impatiens make wonderful border and container plants. The whole planting composition is anchored by an antique granite post
